After graduating in Pharmacology at University of Liverpool, Ashley undertook a PhD at University of Leicester studying novel drug targets in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Ashley returned to Liverpool to continue the search for new anti-tubercular and anti-malarial compounds during as a post-doctoral researcher at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
In 2014 Ashley moved to the Chemical Regulations Directorate of the UK Health and Safety Executive where his role led him to developing experience of regulatory processes within the EU and coordination a wide range of applications under the EU biocidal products regulations (BPR). Subsequently, Ashley moved into consultancy where he successfully supported clients with preparation and submission of dossiers to achieve active substance approvals and biocidal products authorizations, liaised with regulatory authorities, and provided regulatory and scientific advice and guidance at national and EU levels.
In his spare time Ashley is most happy when he is outdoors. He can often be found cycling the lanes of Lancashire, walking the hills of North Wales or the Lake District, and on occasion participating in long-distance running events. When not out and about, Ashley spends his time trying to perfect his home-brew recipes.
